Showcase
Introduction
Welcome to my Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) showcase! On this page, you will find samples of my work from my two and a half years in the program. My work samples primarily fall into three categories, as this program lead me to take on more of a leadership role within my district/professional community, and also reinforced my mission to integrate technology in a purposeful way, as well as incorporate more creative practices in my instruction. Please click on the image next to each work sample to view the full project.

Leadership

Webinar
I researched and developed this webinar on encouraging reluctant teachers to integrate technology for a wide audience of educators, using YouTube Live and Google Hangouts on Air. Moderating this webinar helped me connect with leading technology specialists and strategists in the field and gave me an opportunity to engage in a professional dialogue on an important topic. |
Developing a Micro-credential Course for District Professional Development
I created a mini-PD-course via the PowerSchool Learning LMS on Project Based Learning for teachers in my district to take for our "on your own" professional development hours. Ten K-12 teachers are taking my course this year, as I moderate their progress. Developing this course allowed me to create activities and assessments to help fellow staff adopt project based learning activities in their classrooms. Here is my planning document for the course, and the evaluation rubric. |
Purposeful Technology Integration

Developing an Online Course for Students
I developed an online course via Weebly for my students to listen to flipped lessons, engage in online interactive activities, and complete checks for understandings for one of my math units. This experience allowed me to leverage technology to help students learn at individual paces, and individualize instruction to different learners. DreamIT: Project Based Learning
I created a project using virtual reality as well as green screen technology as part of my U.S. Regions unit in Social Studies. I wrote a grant to advocate for the technologies and learning strategies needed. This project gave me the chance to learn how to write a grant, and how to leverage technology resources to deepen students' learning experiences. |
Creativity
|
Learning Space Design
I used SketchUp to design a classroom that would foster collaboration, creativity, and flexibility. This activity allowed me to be creative and forward-thinking, as well as imagine the possibilities for my students, since all barriers (cost, materials, etc.) were removed. I was able to create white board desks and wall space, and galleries for student work. I also designed different levels of tables/seats. Perceiving/Visual Inquiry
As part of an exploration of creativity, I re-imagined a classic image from Michigan History to allow my students to see it in a different way. Taking a black and white image of the original assembly line, and capturing it with a written poem instead, allowed me to focus on the essence of this historical concept and express it in a new form. I also created a visual inquiry (see-think-wonder) protocol to help students focus on key aspects of the visual representation. Maker Movement Activity
Using a Makey Makey kit, I created an interactive brain model that I coded using Scratch to allow students to practice identifying the lobes of the brain. This project allowed me to be a maker myself in developing the model, and created excitement within my students at the possibility to develop their own creations with the Makey Makey kit. |
